Each year, the Queensland Resources Council (QRC) invests in the next generation of resource sector engineers and scientists by providing prestigious undergraduate scholarships in partnership with key Queensland universities.
In addition to financial assistance, students who receive a QRC scholarship will be invited to join the QRC Student Ambassador Program.
Through the program students receive:

| Queensland University of Technology Dean’s Scholars Resources Sector Bursary |  |

The bursary is awarded by the QRC to up to two full-time first-year students who begin their engineering studies through the QUT Dean’s Scholars Program.
In addition to sponsoring the Dean’s Scholars Program, QRC provides bursaries of $3,000 per student per annum for up to four years of study.
This increases the value of each student's scholarship to $10,000 per annum or $40,000 over the course of their four-year approved degree.

Up to two scholarships are offered each year for students who are to commence their first-year of studies.
The JCU-QRC scholarship is open to a student enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering (chemical, civil, environmental, electrical, mechanical).
The second JCU-QRC scholarship is open to a student enrolled in a Bachelor of Earth Science (geology), or the Bachelor of Environmental Science.

| University of Queensland Excellence and QRC Scholarships | |

The QRC is proud to be the first industry partner in the University of Queensland’s (UQ) Excellence Scholarships.
The QRC offers up to three scholarships exclusively to students who receive a UQ Excellence Scholarship, demonstrate an interest in a resources sector career and will be enrolled full-time at UQ in one of the courses listed below.

UQ Excellence Scholarships are valued at $6,000 per year and QRC scholarships are valued at $4,000 per year, making the scholarship benefit $10,000 per year for the duration of a full-time, approved UQ Bachelor program.

When you apply for a UQ Excellence Scholarship, you must indicate on the online application form that you would like to be considered for a QRC scholarship.
You must also demonstrate your interest in a resources sector career in your ‘Personal Statement’.

| Coal Minesite Rehabilitation Trust Fund—postgraduate scholarships | |
Applications are open for 2011 scholarships
The QRC supports postgraduate students researching ways to improve the environmental management of coal minesites through scholarships funded from the Coal Minesite Rehabilitation Trust Fund.
Up to two scholarships are on offer for 2011, each with a maximum value of $35,000 per annum for up to three years.*
The Coal Minesite Rehabilitation Trust Fund is overseen by a steering committee of representatives from the fund’s trustees - the QRC and the Queensland Government - along with representatives from major Queensland coal mining companies.
The fund was established in 1999 with the objective of supporting research into the management of Queensland coal minesite environmental issues leading to the achievement of sustainable operations and post-mining land uses.
Short Proposals are to be received by the QRC on behalf of the Steering Committee by 26 November 2010. The successful applicants will be notified in writing by 21 January 2011.
