Consolidated Rutile Limited BackNext

Consolidated Rutile Limited (CRL) began mining operations on North Stradbroke Island, off Brisbane, in 1966.

Its business focuses on two areas - titanium minerals for titanium metal and titanium dioxide pigment production; and zircon for ceramics.

CRL employs more than 220 people, of whom 150 are island residents. CRL also indirectly employs many local businesses and contractors, who provide services.

CRL has two mines for the extraction of mineral sands operating on the island and a dry mill plant for processing minerals at Pinkenba. CRL produces an average of 70,000 tonnes of rutile, 45,000 tonnes of zircon and up to 150,000 tonnes of ilmenite annually.
