ATEC Rail Group (ARG)
ATEC Rail Group (ARG) is a public unlisted Australian company that develops, operates and finances below-rail open access freight rail infrastructure, designed to connect bulk commodity asses to coastal ports for export. ARG has several freight rail, terminal and port infrastructure projects currently in its investment pipeline across Australia.
ARG invests in:
- Below-rail infrastructure development and operations;
- Specialist rail and terminal services operations (RIM); and
- Bulk ports.
ARG works with its bulk commodity clients on long-term projects that have a medium to long-term sustainable future. ARG operates and manages its investments, and delivers customised freight infrastructure solutions that optimise the efficiency of the pit-to-port supply chain.
ARG’s business model
ARG’s business model facilitates privately-funded investment in new freight rail infrastructure (greenfield), or upgrades/expansions to existing rail infrastructure (brownfield) projects that deliver critical freight corridors.
ARG’s investment in the Surat Basin
ARG is the largest investor in below-rail open access freight infrastructure in Queensland’s Surat Basin, and continues to progress its projects throughout this minerals-rich precinct.
ARG enhances RIM capability
ARG recently enhanced its capability as an independent RIM with the acquisition of Traxion from Intermodal Terminal Services Pty Ltd. This acquisition underpins the company’s strategy to manage and operate short haul rail corridors for its clients, independently of above-rail haulage or construction services.
ARG’s financial capability
ARG’s largest shareholder is The Energy & Minerals Group (EMG), a U.S. based private equity investment firm with approximately $16bn of assets under management in energy and minerals assets. ARG is well positioned to pursue freight rail infrastructure investment opportunities, and has the financial capacity and capability to move quickly on opportunities.
ARG has headquarters in Brisbane and offices in Sydney and Perth.
