Summit Resources Limited
In 1992 Summit Resources Limited a public company listed on the ASX and NZSE, identified the potential to discover middle Proterozoic iron oxide base and precious metal deposits similar to Roxby Downs and Ernest Henry in an area immediately to the north of the existing Mount Isa base metal mines in northwest Queensland.
Summit’s exploration and development work since then has resulted in a reassessment of the entire Mount Isa mineralised system, discovery of a world class iron oxide shale hosted uranium vanadium resource at Valhalla and recognition of similar styles of uranium mineralisation at Skal and Andersons.
Development of a new exploration model for the emplacement and location of Proterozoic Isa style base metal and IOCG copper gold deposits along major long lived deep seated fractures (the Mount Isa Paroo, Great Western, May Downs, Mount Clarke and Termite Range Faults) followed up by the Company’s mapping and data base has revealed the presence of hundreds of kilometres of the strike extension of until now unmapped and unexplored mine sequence rocks which host the Mount Isa ore bodies.
