QRC promotes leading practice environmental management outcomes throughout the resources sector
The resources sector contributes to the creation of jobs, supports local communities and businesses and provides significant royalty payments to the State through the environmentally responsible extraction of our commodities (e.g. coal, oil, gas, metals).
While the resources sector uses only 0.1 percent of Queensland’s land mass, operations must be planned and undertaken in a way that minimises the total footprint and impacts to the environment, including land, biodiversity, air quality, water and the Great Barrier Reef. QRC regards environmental responsible management as a core part of the sector’s social license to operate.
To support a healthy and resilient environment and sustain the resources sector into the future, QRC promotes leading practice environmental management outcomes. This covers both supporting continuous improvement in the environmental performance of its members, as well as the regulatory and policy framework that members must operate within.
QRC’s Environment Policy and guidance notes outline the scope of QRC’s core work and advocacy efforts.
