QRC promotes leading practice environmental management outcomes throughout the resources sector
The resources sector contributes to the creation of jobs, supports local communities and businesses and provides significant royalty payments to the State through the environmentally responsible extraction of our commodities (e.g. coal, oil, gas, metals).
While the resources sector uses only 0.1 percent of Queensland’s land mass, operations must be planned and undertaken in a way that minimises the total footprint and impacts to the environment, including land, biodiversity, air quality, water and the Great Barrier Reef. QRC regards environmental responsible management as a core part of the sector’s social license to operate.
QRC represents Queensland’s resources sector on environment policy and operational matters. Its role is to work with governments, industry and other stakeholders to achieve appropriate and effective policy, laws, regulations and procedures that facilitate the sector’s contribution to sustainable development. To achieve this, QRC operates in accordance with its Environment Policy.
