Workplace Culture Risks Workshop

In 2022, the QRC and Commissioner for Resources Safety and Health conducted a full-day workshop on Workplace Culture Risks to assess how the Queensland resources industry addresses inappropriate behaviours.

The workshop highlighted the need for resources across all business levels to ensure consistency in managing these issues, with key focus areas including leadership, governance, strategy, psychological safety and physical safety. 

The key-note speech was presented by Melanie Cooper, Rio Tinto on Everyday Respect: Report into Workplace Culture at Rio Tinto.

Representatives from the minerals, coal, petroleum and gas sectors attended facilitated sessions on leadership, strategy and governance, psychological safety and physical safety. The workshop also included 2 panel discussions on addressing workplace culture risks and the role of psychological safety in managing workplace culture.

Building on the workshop's success, QRC is collaborating with member companies and related organisations to develop resources guiding the industry in addressing workplace misconduct.
