Rob Jackson

Vice President Operations | South32, Cannington

Rob Jackson is the current Vice-President Operations and Director of South32’s Cannington silver, lead and zinc operation in North-West Queensland. He is a member of South32’s Senior Leadership Team.

A Mining Engineer who holds a Master in Finance, Rob is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Throughout his 25-year career, Rob has held corporate and operational roles in different minerals and across several countries.

Prior to leading the Cannington Operation, Rob was responsible for GEMCO, the world’s largest Manganese operation, based on Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory. He led the operation through divestment from BHP Billiton to South32.

Rob is recognised amongst peers as a progressive leader and is a passionate advocate for inclusion and diversity. His dedication to workplace diversity saw him named the Queensland Resource Council’s Gender Diversity

Champion for 2019 with the Cannington operation also awarded the Excellence in Diversity Programs and Performance under his stewardship.

During his career, Rob has led his teams through considerable technical change, lifted health and environmental management standards, negotiated both mining and exploration agreements with governments and an economic development agreement with Traditional Owners.
