Flood impacts on resources sector

Some resources operations in the Bowen Basin and north have been impacted due to recent localised flooding and particularly road access to sites.

This varies from temporary closures to operations being placed on standby depending on their location, with heavy rain impacting sites around Clermont and Collinsville.

This has not been a great start to the new year on top of the sector already experiencing skyrocketing business costs, shifting global economic conditions and changing regulations.

Extreme weather can affect production volumes, exports and operations.

Our resources sector is resilient and well-prepared for summer wet seasons and in managing impacts on mining operations.

Safety of workers and local communities is the sector’s priority and companies are keeping them updated.
