Diversity & Inclusion
The QRC is working towards increasing female participation in the Queensland resources sector through supporting the industry with the provision of diversity and inclusion policy and best practice.
Research has shown that a diverse workforce provides better outcomes for businesses and the sector as a whole, and a more inclusive work environment aids in the attraction and retention of workforce.
We do this through:
- Supporting Women in Mining and Resources Queensland (WIMARQ) to provide support for women working in Queensland’s resources sector
- Annual Resources Awards for Women to recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements and contributions of women in Queensland’s resources sector
- QRC and WIMARQ Women’s Mentoring Program supports the career and personal growth of women working in the industry, through a structured six-month mentoring program
- QMEA and WIMARQ GIRLS Mentoring Program supports Year 12 female students from QMEA schools as they navigate decisions associated with their future study or work pathways
- QRC Board Workforce Attraction and Retention Committee oversees the direction of Diversity and Inclusivity strategy in consultation with industry
- QRC Diversity and Inclusivity Strategy
- Resources WIDE initiative, in conjunction with the Queensland Government.
WIRED
The Women in Resources: Empowering Development (WIRED) Program is a QRC led, Queensland Government funded initiative designed to support more women to enter and progress in operator and technician roles across the resources sector.
WIRED provides practical leadership development, career guidance and peer connection to build confidence, capability and clearer pathways for advancement.
As a pilot program, it is shaping a scalable, industry wide approach to strengthening female operators and technicians’ participation in rewarding resources sector careers.
