QRC regards environmentally responsible operations and sustainable asset management as a core part of the resources sector’s social licence to operate.
QRC represents Queensland’s resources and energy sector on environmental policy and operational matters, assisting our members as they navigate complex regulatory mechanisms and helping government bridge the gap between policy reform concepts and real-world applications.

QRC has welcomed funding from the Queensland Government under the Regional Economic Futures Fund (REFF) initiative to determine the viability of implementing renewable energy projects as a post-mining land use (PMLU) in the Bowen Basin.
To meet growing future energy needs, coal and gas will have a very important role within the energy mix, alongside renewable technology. QRC works alongside its member companies to strike a balance between:
QRC supports the Paris Agreement, its emissions reductions goals, and the action required to achieve the commitments under the agreement.
QRC supports its members efforts to decarbonise their operations, lower emissions and reduce energy costs by improving energy efficiency, adopting renewable energy, investing in co-generation, and implementing demand management.
QRC’s advocacy is governed by the QRC Political Engagement Policy, which recognises a core activity of the QRC is to advocate for and influence policy outcomes that are in the best interest of the Queensland resources industry.
