Resources sector’s ‘rock solid’ commitment to safety at major industry conference

Queensland Resources Council (QRC) is once again proudly supporting Australia’s largest industry safety event, the Queensland Mining Industry Health and Safety Conference (QMIHSC), which begins on the Gold Coast this Sunday, 17 August.
The theme of this year’s conference, which runs for four days, is Rock Solid, representing the resources sector’s ongoing commitment to continuous safety improvement in the industry.
QRC Chief Executive Officer, Janette Hewson, says the conference brings delegates from around Australia with a focus on one thing – ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of every worker in the mining and resources sector.
“QMIHSC 2025 brings together the people who keep the sector safely operating, from workers, support services, suppliers, unions, industry, regulators and government representatives, ” Ms Hewson said.
“This collaborative forum is dedicated to sharing lessons learnt, emerging trends and innovations reinforcing our sector’s commitment to continuous safety improvement.
“An outstanding line up of speakers covering all aspects of workers’ physical and psychological safety along with expert panel discussions involving industry representatives, researchers and academics.”
Speakers include two-time Moto GP World Champion, Casey Stoner, and Queensland State of Origin captain, Cameron Munster.
QMIHSC includes a number of award presentations showcasing latest innovation in health and safety.
“The health and safety of resources workers always has been, and always will be, the number one priority of Queensland’s resources sector and QMIHSC is a key part of industry’s efforts to ensure all workers come home safely.
“It complements other industry safety programs including the QRC’s annual series of Site Senior Executive (SSE) Forums that regularly bring together Queensland industry experts to share and promote experiences and innovation to improve safety across the whole sector.”
