The Queensland Resources Council (QRC) Board and member companies are deeply saddened by the recent fatalities and serious injuries affecting Queenslanders and the resources sector. Our thoughts are with the families, friends and colleagues.

Our industry places the highest priority on the safety and wellbeing of all people who work in the resources sector. Any loss of life in our industry is unacceptable. Industry is dedicated to continuous improvement that ensures every worker returns home safely at the end of every shift.

The QRC will stand shoulder to shoulder with industry in efforts to reduce harm and promote a positive safety culture. Over the next 12 months, we will host a series of industry forums that focus on principal and critical hazard management and collectively share learnings.

We are not alone in our efforts to get every worker home safely. The QRC Board will engage other sectors to identify any safety learnings or practices that could be implemented by Queensland’s resources sector.

The QRC Board encourages its members to remind all workers, if ever they feel unsafe or believe their safety is at risk, to speak up and report hazards to their supervisor.  Or stop work if there is an immediate risk to their safety.

Together, we are committed to creating a safer working environment for everyone.
