Gender Diversity Performance
The QRC and its members are committed to increasing the proportion of women in the resources sector, particularly in ‘non-traditional’ areas of employment such as engineering, geology, operators and trades.
In line with QRC’s diversity and inclusion strategy, the Economics team collects and analyses the latest gender diversity data from the sector each year. The survey covers key indicators such as the:
- Number of women employed by QRC member companies
- Characteristics of the female workforce of QRC member companies, including turnover, internal progression, age and occupational breakdown
- Number of Indigenous businesses participating in QRC member company supply chains and total spend on Indigenous businesses.
The data highlights the proportion of women employed in Queensland’s resources sector continues to increase and has almost doubled since 2015-16. In 2022-23, nine in ten women were employed in non-traditional positions, and the number of women in trades positions increased by 37%.
