As an industry, we are committed to ensuring the safety, health and well-being of our workforce. An important aspect of this is ensuring that everyone is and feels that they are respected, their contributions are valued and that they belong. We champion psychosocial and psychological safety, supporting members to ensure workers feel physically and mentally safe. Collaborating closely with member companies, we help our members stay informed, develop resources, share best practices and collaborate on preventive measures.
Our Respect@Work portal provides resources and case studies to assist members in developing policies and practices to foster inclusive safe and respectful workplaces.
Sexual harassment within the resource sector is a complex issue that can cause significant physical and psychological harm. We recognise that workers with intersectional identities, such as colour, disability or race, may face additional and unique challenges if experiencing sexual harassment and in deciding whether to report the occurrence.
The QRC recognises that it is critical for the resource sector to prevent and mitigate the risks of sexual harassment ensuring consideration of the diverse backgrounds and experiences of the workforce. We recognise the additional complexities and challenges presented through the use of technology facilitated sexual harassment including the use of artificial intelligence.
Through our Respect@Work working group, we proactively encourage, share and support initiatives to promote inclusivity and prevent workplace harassment, including sexual harassment. We do this through collaborating and showcasing QRC Member initiatives, participating in stakeholder reference groups, developing policy, as well as reviewing and disseminating research, information and best practices across the industry.
