The Queensland resources sector recognises that there is no competitive advantage in safety and acknowledges the importance of continuing to co-operate and share information, research and learnings.
QRC is committed to advocating on behalf of and supporting members to ensure improved safety and health outcomes. This includes working with members to identify and address critical safety and health risks, and developing industry initiatives that foster a positive safety culture.
The QRC continues to advocate for an evidenced-based approach to safety and health legislation in order to manage the risks of work-related injury and disease, rather than unnecessary prescription.

The QRC works closely with Resources Safety and Health and the Resources Safety and Health Commissioner to ensure safety and health policy is informed by industry and information disseminated.
We have industry representatives on Ministerial Advisory Committees, Coal Mining Industry Safety and Health (CMSHAC) and the Mining Safety and Health Advisory Committee (MSHAC). Through these industry representatives, the QRC provides advice to the Minister for Resources to ensure the safety and health of workers within the mining industry.
The Health and Safety team in collaboration with the QRC’s Health and Safety Committee identify priority issues within the resource sector and take steps to support continuous improvement in safety and health performance. Our current policy priorities are:
