The Queensland Resources Council (QRC) is hosting one of the key annual events for the state’s all important exploration sector today at the Queensland Exploration Council (QEC) Tech Summit.

QRC Chief Executive Officer Janette Hewson said the Tech Summit showcases industry leaders outlining the opportunities for the exploration sector under the theme of “Collaboration for successful exploration”.

“Collaboration has been an important ingredient in the success of Queensland’s resources sector and it remains the key to the future growth of our state’s biggest and most important industry,” Ms Hewson said.

“This is an exciting time for the resources sector with the emerging critical minerals market set to add to Queensland’s reputation as a world class supplier of the commodities the world needs.

“Our explorers have an important role to play in ensuring Queensland’s resources industry remains an important contributor to jobs and economic growth in our state.

“Like the rest of the resources industry, the exploration sector is facing both opportunities and challenges, and events like this assist those involved in the sector navigate their way through both.

“The QRC’s most recent industry sentiment survey through our State of the Sector report confirmed member companies remain confident about long term demand for all Queensland commodities which in turn provides confidence to explorers.

“If Queensland is to capitalise on our state’s enormous potential, the industry needs stable and competitive policies from governments at all levels that encourage investment in new resources projects.”

QEC Chair Kim Wainwright said today’s Tech Summit was an opportunity to bring industry together to discuss the latest developments in exploration across the state.

“This Summit puts the spotlight on a crucial part of Queensland’s resources sector and will cover some of the key issues for the modern Queensland exploration industry,” Ms Wainwright said.

“They include the energy transition, critical minerals, social responsibility in mining and planning to achieve best outcomes when mines reach the end of production.

“Today we’re hearing from presenters who are sharing their stories of innovation in exploration, their challenges and successes and the latest research outcomes,” she said.

“We are very pleased to have world-renowned expert, Dr Peter Whitbread-Abrutat – author of ‘102 Things to do with a Hole in the Ground’ – as one of our guest speakers.

“Along with a number of panel sessions, the Tech Summit will cover all the important issues for Queensland’s exploration sector and how the industry can capitalise on the new opportunities.”
