The Queensland Resources Council welcomes the State Government’s $800 million funding commitment to the CopperString project as another positive step in opening new opportunities for the North West Minerals Province.

A reliable and affordable energy supply is crucial to unlocking the region’s significant potential to be a major global supplier of critical minerals.

Investors are looking for regions that support the development of future facing resources with infrastructure, including those needed for energy and water.

Energy has long been needed to unlock the full potential of the North West Minerals Province and today’s CopperString announcement is a recognition of that.

CopperString is essential common user infrastructure to power the resources sector in the NWMP creating new jobs, economic contributions and supply chain opportunities.

At a time when our closest and historically longest trading partners and allies in Asia, Europe, and the US are calling out for more critical minerals development, common user infrastructure projects like CopperString are essential to develop the resources needed to feed the demand from defence, electrification, and the AI boom.
